DIY Tea Tree Face Mask for Acne
Sometimes the simplest recipes are the ones that work the best. That is absolutely the case with this DIY Tea Tree Face Mask. With three simple ingredients that you most likely already have in your refrigerator and pantry, you can create an incredibly potent anti-acne mask that works super fast to calm down a breakout and stop it in its tracks.
So, whenever I start to break out and know a full-blown breakout is on the way, I whip up this mask that takes all of thirty seconds to make!
Ingredients:
1 Teaspoon of Honey. I like raw, local honey the best, but any honey will do! Honey has wonderful anti-bacterial properties- perfect for stubborn acne!
1 Teaspoon of Yogurt. I use no sugar added yogurt, because I don’t want to add any extra processed sugar, but any plain yogurt works. The lactic acid in yogurt helps to break down any dead skin cells on your face and the acidic nature of yogurt helps treat and prevent acne as well!
4-5 Drops of Tea Tree Oil. Tea tree oil is the powerhouse of this recipe. Adding few drops of tea tree to your mask is wonderful for combatting acne. Tea tree oil is antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, and antiviral- it will help kill off any infection and return your skin to its previous luster.
Instructions:
- Mix together all ingredients- the mixture can be a bit runny- that’s okay!
- Using your fingers or a spoon, spread the mask over your previously-cleansed face in a thin layer, avoiding the eyes.
- Leave in place until the mask has completely dried.
- Rinse off with warm water, and re-cleanse and moisturize if desired.
Enjoy your softer, soon-to-be clear skin!

I’m totally going to try this! I still have 16 year old acne. I’m almost 33!!! What gives?! I already use tea tree oil directly on blemishes, but I feel like it’s not quite enough. How often do you do this mask?
I use tea tree oil on my breakouts and it works great, much better than any medication or face wash I’ve ever tried. Tea tree oil is a natural antibacterial agent as well as a natural astringent, so it sucks up excess oil on the skin and kills any bacteria in the pimple, helping it heal up faster. Don’t let the word “oil” in the name throw you off – it’s not going to make the greasiness on your face worse, it will actually help improve it. I would suggest the line of tea tree oil face products from The Body Shop. They’re designed for normal to oily skin and are really effective in gently clearing up acne-prone skin using natural tea tree oil.
