DIY Matcha Honey Face Mask
I love a good face mask. Everything from sheet masks to masks made out of the contents of your produce drawer bring me so much joy. But sometimes you need to create something for a very specific reason. For me, this is my skin revolting after having traveled for way too many days straight from Chicago to Los Angeles and then back home to Denver. My skin had been through a lot. So I’ve popped a few of my most favorite skin reviving ingredients together to create a super powered face mask, my DIY Matcha Honey Face Mask!
Now, this recipe can be super simple- just grab some matcha and some honey, mix them together, and you’re good to go. But I wanted to dive a bit deeper with this mask. I needed to combat both dry, flaky skin and my annoying acne popping up. So, I’ve upped the ‘wow’ factor of this recipe! Not only is going to be a ridiculously vibrant green- it is going to have your skin feeling wonderful (even if you happen to scare your dogs in the meantime!)
DIY Matcha Honey Face Mask Ingredients

1 Tsp Organic Matcha Powder
(You can stop here or up the ante!)
1 Tsp Aloe Vera Gel
2-3 Drops Lavender Essential Oil
2-3 Drop Tea Tree Essential Oil
DIY Matcha Honey Face Mask Instructions
So, rather than full instructions here- because they are seriously 1. Mix all ingredients together. 2. Slather it on your face. 3. Leave for 15-20 minutes. and 4. Wash it off. I’m going to break down why I used each of the ingredients instead!
Honey
Honey, especially Manuka Honey, is so wonderful for healing anything to do with skin. With its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, popping honey onto damaged or blemished skin can reduce the amount of bacteria on the skin and in acne blemishes to help them heal more quickly.
Matcha Powder
Not only is it packed full of antioxidants, matcha powder also can help with inflammation, exfoliation, and anti-aging for skin. It can also help to diminish over active oil glands because of the tannins (naturally occurring chemical compounds that make tea feel astringent) in the tea. The more balanced the skin’s oil production, the healthier the skin!
Aloe Vera Gel
Aside from being great for sunburns, aloe vera is also wonderful for its anti-aging properties. As an anti-inflammatory and highly moisturizing gel aloe is going to have your face feeling cool and refreshed.
Lavender Essential Oil
As another anti-inflammatory, lavender essential oil can calm down redness and inflammation on the skin. But in addition to that, lavender is great for dealing with hyper pigmentation and other dark spots from past acne scarring!
Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea tree oil is antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, and antiviral- it will help kill off any infection and return your skin to its previous luster. Similar to this mask!
When it comes to these ingredients, you can absolutely mix and match! Whichever ingredients you have on hand, pop them in! Even if you stick just to honey and matcha, the results are going to be amazing! What are your favorite ingredients for face masks? This particular DIY Matcha Honey Face Mask is a bit more involved, than a simple mask, but simple can be just as amazing!
