National Nutrition Month: Health Food Innovation with BabbleBoxx
One of my favorite things about my job here on Habits of a Modern Hippie, is that I constantly get to try the health and wellness industry’s new innovations. While normally I only get to discover one new brand or product at a time, today I have teamed up with BabbleBoxx who sent me a collection of what is new and exciting in the healthy food and beverage realm, perfect for March which just so happens to be National Nutrition Month!
While some of these brands I have and love already, all of the products in this box are new to me, which is always exciting! So I’ll do a bit of an unboxing of what has shown up on my doorstep and break it down brand by brand and add a bit of nutritional commentary in honor or National Nutrition Month!
Nutiva Squeezable Organic Coconut Oil and MCT Powder
Nutiva is one of my ride-or-dies. I honestly couldn’t tell you the last time that I didn’t have a jar of their coconut oil on my counter, but the new packaging and MCT Powder both have me intrigued. Squeezable coconut oil is not something that I’ve seen before, and to be quite honestly I was rather skeptical. While I could see the convenience factor and accessibility impact for those who don’t have the best use of their hands, a non-recyclable package is not something I would usually go for when there is a recyclable option. However, Nutiva owns the fact that it is not recyclable and explains why which I love. On the packaging, the reasons stated are that flexible pouches use less raw material to make, involve 50% less CO2 emissions, and are non-BPA. But the best part is that on the package it states ‘this pouch is not recyclable but we are searching for a recyclable solution! I love that companies are working towards packaging that is good for the planet!
As for the MCT Powder, I have not done the deep dive into Medium-Chain Triglycerides quite yet, so this is new to me. But I am definitely interested in trying this organic option out- especially when 1% of the proceeds from this product go to regenerative agriculture!
Wonder Drink Prebiotic Kombucha
If you’ve been following me for any amount of time you’ll know that I am (more than) obsessed with kombucha in all its forms, especially when it is easy to carry around as a can. Wonder Drink’s prebiotic kombucha is created with certified organic xylo-oligosaccharides which is a plant-based prebiotic fiber (prebiotics are essentially like fertilizer for good bacteria whereas probiotics are a good strain of bacteria!) that can help promote healthy digestion. Aside from being great for your gut, these cans are delicious! I am absolutely loving the ginger peach!
Laird Superfood’s Super Food Creamers
Growing up as an athlete, I always appreciated performance enhancers that were great for my body and not chock full of processed sugar, food dye, and chemicals. So when I see a natural foods product that was formulated by an athlete with whole foods, sustainably sourced ingredients, and an emphasis on function, I’m all in. Laird Hamilton (the founder) was a big wave surfer that has brought his island mentality into the natural foods realm. Laird Superfood Creamers are made with organic coconut products so they’re dairy free, and have an added calcium benefit of Aquamin- a sea algae! Very on brand for a surfer!
Happy Healthy Smoothies Overnight Oats, and Acai Bowl
I’m pretty sure I could live on healthy smoothies alone in the summer! There is something so luxuriously fresh about frozen fruits and veggies. Happy Healthy makes breakfast simple! As a subscription service that will ship farm fresh, flash frozen, non GMO products to your doorstep, you’ll always have healthy breakfast options on hand! My favorite so far is the Dragon Fruit Berry Overnight Oats that is a blend of just four ingredients, dragonfruit, raspberries, blueberries, and oats. Simple is best!
VeeTee Thai Jasmine Rice and Wholegrain Brown Rice & Quinoa Bowls
Rice is one of my pantry staples, but usually I just chuck it in the rice cooker as an afterthought. VeeTee microwaveable rice ups the flavor profile and ease of making rice by offering wonderfully flavored sticky rice that is ready in two minutes! Rice, simplified!
So, I’m curious! Which of these National Nutrition Month products would you be most interested in trying? I love boxes like these because it forces me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things (I’m looking at you Nutiva MCT Powder!) while knowing that the items I’m choosing are still on the healthy spectrum! Thanks again to BabbleBoxx for sponsoring this post and sending out such a fun assortment of items!

Those kombucha drinks look very interesting. I’d like to try making it myself one day though.
