Weekend Warrior Detox : Healthy Hangover Cures

Wellness

Hello Darlings! So, you overindulged a bit this weekend, maybe had a few too many margaritas, and woke up feeling dead to the world. There is zero chance you are going to be able to hold a yoga pose, make it to the gym, or even just move with any semblance of grace. We’ve all been there….

Food· Lunch and Dinner

Hello darlings! Cod en Papillote with Dandelion Greens I love seafood. Shrimp, clams, crab, lobster; I’ll eat it all. I especially love how light and fresh fish is, and during lent fish is often steeply on sale for those who abstain from meat for religious reasons. Being the curious individual that I am, I did find it odd that fish…

Valentine’s Day Wishlist

Hello Darlings! In theory, I am in the camp that Valentine’s Day is over commercialized and that you should treat your loved ones with sweetness every day of the the year. In practice, however, I love the red, white, and pink hearts, boxes of chocolates in sweet packaging, and bouquets of flowers that come with the Hallmark-esque Valentine’s Day that…

Hello Darlings! As evidenced on my Instagram I was caught in Nemo, a blizzard last weekend that dumped nearly three feet of snow on my house here in Connecticut. When all was said and done, snow was abundant, as was salt on the roads, which is terrible for dogs’ paws. Rock salt, in both texture and composition, can erode your…

Simple and Spicy Jambalaya for Mardi Gras

Food· Lunch and Dinner

Hello Darlings! Mardi Gras, literal translation Fat Tuesday, is a day on which gluttony is exalted and enjoyed- my kind of day. I love food in general, but Cajun cuisine has a special place on my palate, flavorful and chock full of seafood, I can’t get enough. In the United States, New Orleans is synonymous with Mardi Gras, Bourbon street,…

Let’s make a citrus winter salad! 🍊Salad B Let’s make a citrus winter salad! 🍊Salad Base:5 Oz Spinach and Arugula Mix
1 Cup Red Cabbage, Roughly Chopped
1 Bunch Red Kale, Roughly Chopped
1/2 Cup Fennel Bulb, Thinly Sliced
1/4 Cup Fresh Dill, Roughly Chopped
1/4 Cup Mint Leaves, Roughly Chopped

1 Naval Orange, Rind Removed, SlicedOptional Toppings: 2 Tbs Dried Cranberries, 1/4 Cup Pepitas, 2 Tbs Hemp HeartsDressing:Juice of 1 Meyer Lemon
Juice of 1/2 Orange
1/4 Cup Olive Oil
1 Tsp Spicy Brown Mustard
1 Garlic Clove, Finely MincedCitrus Winter Greens Salad Instructions:1. In a large bowl mix together your chopped greens and herbs- cabbage, kale, fennel, dill, and mint. I love adding aromatics like dill, mint, and fennel into salad mixtures, they create a depth of flavor and a brightness that pairs so well with the tart flavors of fresh citrus.2. Gently toss the chopped greens with the whole leaves of spinach and arugula.3. Half the sliced citrus and remove any remaining pith that is left over from removing the rind. (Psst.. don’t forget to save the citrus rinds! They make for amazing candied citrus!)4. To make the dressing add all ingredients into a lidded container (a mason jar is perfect for this!) and shake to combine.5. Fill your serving dish with complete greens mixture. Arrange citrus on top of the salad when ready to serve (this makes sure the greens stay fresh without the moisture from the citrus!), top with your dried fruit and seeds, and drizzle with the dressing!#salad #vegan #holistichealth #lowwaste #slowliving #urbanhomestead #citrus #healthylifestyle
