The Sustainability of Leather

Lifestyle· Sustainability

In the worlds of health, wellness, and sustainability there are an incredible number of ‘right’ answers for every concern. Packaging but organic, no packaging but GMO, vegan but full of additives or regenerative agriculture but meat based- all are sensible options but there is no one ‘right’ option because it depends on your lifestyle and which attributes of a product…

The Power of Embracing Your Uniqueness | Celebrating International Women’s Day with Adidas

Lifestyle· Wellness

The archetype of what a woman ‘is’ and what a woman ‘should be’ has constantly evolved throughout history- we see a near fluid and cyclical ebb and flow of power and prominence from warrior queens to the subservient mistresses of Tudor times. The stories that usually fill textbooks and epic poems are now playing out in real time as today’s…

Simple Zero Waste Mayonnaise Recipe

Food· Snacks

It always makes me giggle that mayonnaise is so controversial, it is just a condiment after all! Needless to say, as I am currently writing about it, I am a huge proponent of the spread, but prefer it best when it is home made. While it isn’t something you typically think of as a quick homemade dressing like infused olive…

Low Waste at Lunchtime! Erbert and Gerbert’s Sandwich Shop #Sponsored

Food· Reviews· Sustainability

Low waste and convenience aren’t usually two terms that you hear together, and often the convenience issue is a huge barrier to many people slowly removing waste from their every day lives! However, this doesn’t need to be the case! When Erbert and Gerbert’s Sandwich Shop reached out and asked me to try their two new, limited time sandwiches I…

I live in a jungle. With well over fifty house plants, many of them absolutely massive, you can easily tell that I am rather obsessed with them. Not only do they clean the air and keep me happy, but they are also a really fun hobby to keep up with! Watering, fertilizing, pruning there is always something fun to do….

I want to be the healthiest and happiest version of Kait that I can be, and I’ve teamed up with @BabbleBoxxoffical to help with that journey!I was sent a fun smorgasbord of health and wellness goodies to test out over the last few weeks and I have some great products to share! Check out my blog post- link in bio- for a whole rundown, but here are some highlights!

The Habit Trip book by @runningpressbooks! Part journal, part reference book this is a great interactive way to create actionable steps to help you achieve you goals and change your habits!

Plant-based meal delivery service by @VeestroFood. ::Gasp:: a meal delivery service for me!? Usually I shy away because of the sheer amount of waste that delivery services create, but #Veestro is eco-friendly right down to its compostable food trays!I’ve been using collagen peptides since I broke my ankle and probiotics since before I can remember and these from @PhysiciansChoice are great options! Non-GMO, hormone free, grass fed, and pasture raised you know that #PhysiciansChoice is super high quality!Last but not least my feet have taken a beating this winter! I tried out one of those peeling foot masks to no avail, but this @Kerasal Intensive Foot Repair has worked wonders on my extra dry feet! #Kerasal#newyearrefreshbbxx

It’s nearly three weeks into 2021 and it feels s It’s nearly three weeks into 2021 and it feels simultaneously like it’s been a decade and that I’ve blinked and three weeks has gone by. 🕰But despite the rather confusing timeline, I am still feeling SO hopeful for the future. As per my word for 2021, roots, I’ve been disseminating what I want, how to achieve it, and allowing my feelings to help guide me in business and it really feels like I am realigning with who I am. ✨I’ve been taking time to step away, explore more, and ‘check out’ and it has me feeling so inspired. I’m feeling like creativity is a haven rather than an obligation again! That in itself is worlds apart from where my headspace was in the later part of 2020. 🏔P.S. I gifted this snake plant to Becky when she signed the papers for owning DPC- I can’t wait to help style with more plant babies! 🪴📷: @rebecca_durigan

There’s something about solitude, fresh air, and There’s something about solitude, fresh air, and blue bird skies that sets my soul free. When my anxiety is acting up I escape with these two fluffs, and a windy hike to an alpine lake was exactly what I needed. 🌬
This new year I’ve been focusing on getting back This new year I’ve been focusing on getting back to my roots, finding out what makes me, me. I’ve been looking back to what I know makes me happy, allows me to flourish, grow, and heal as a human. #Sponsored However, one thing that has been rather omnipresent in my life which I am *not* looking to get back to is my anxiety and inability to sleep! So I’ve teamed up with @NorthAmericanHerbandSpice to showcase one of my new favorite products of theirs, Essence of Neroli Orange.Known in the Mediterranean as ‘white coffee’ for its mood-balancing actions, this orange blossom, oxygen-rich hydrosol also supports a healthy whole body neurological response when I am looking for a bit of help calming down before bed! I pop a couple tablespoons of the essence into a cup of hot water with honey before bed to make a sweet, floral elixir that is both delicious and calming! It has been a fun new addition to my nighttime routine! Be sure to check it out in the link in my bio! #NorthAmericanHerbandSpice
It’s been two weeks since I’ve dyed my hair ba It’s been two weeks since I’ve dyed my hair back to it’s natural color, and the change in how I’m treated has blown my mind. 🧜‍♀️When I first dyed my hair blue, I noticed a change immediately- people took me less seriously, assumed that I was less capable, and, most infuriatingly for me, less intelligent. People seemed genuinely surprised that I was well educated and could add insight to projects and conversations. ✨At first it was amusing- I loved watching people’s facial expressions as they realized that they were wrong about first impressions, but after a while it became frustrating. I started casually dropping where I went to school, degrees I’ve earned, even sometimes in exasperation that my IQ is well over the number that qualifies me for Mensa. Because of my hair I had to work harder for respect, acceptance, and positive attention. 📚I eventually got used to the extra work and it fell to the back of my mind. However, when I dyed my hair back natural I noticed that those friction points faded away. Conversations start differently, I’m automatically included, and I don’t get the second glances in stores but rather help and up-selling (brunette me apparently looks more affluent.) 🌙If hair color can change the perception that extensively (especially of someone who has an abundance of privilege- white, pretty, socio-economic, cisgender and more) I can’t begin to imagine the hurdles that many of my fellow humans have to jump in order to get respect and common decency. I made the conscious choice to dye my hair, but being born a certain race or trans or differently-abled isn’t a choice and shouldn’t have to be a barrier to living the lives they imagined. 🌈I’ve always lived in a headspace that doesn’t care what you look like, where you came from, or who or how you love as long as you’re a good human. But even those of us who are active participants in equality for all have implicit bias, and we need to recognize that. I’m hopeful for our future as a society- the turbulence of the last year, if nothing else, proved that there are people willing to step up and fight for what is right. Let’s keep that progress moving! ☀️📷: @rebecca_durigan
We all know that I am a mess in the kitchen, and o We all know that I am a mess in the kitchen, and oftentimes I lose track of time and end up baking in the dark with my hands covered in dough and veggie scraps! #Sponsored I've been slowly transitioning this old house into a smart home, and my latest project is my kitchen and breakfast nook to make sure I can control my lighting without covering light switches with rogue butter streaks!Caséta by @LutronElectronics is the premium smart lighting control that makes regular bulbs smart and works with more leading smart home brands than any other smart home lighting control brand. I've added two of their products into my kitchen, a Smart Dimmer for this gorgeous pendant light (the dimmer even works with my filament bulbs!) and a Smart Switch for my on-off overhead lights! Now I can ask my Google devices to turn on or dim lights without the mess. With my front room and now kitchen outfitted with Caséta, what do you guys think I should do next? Porch lights or the bedrooms!? #TurnOnPeaceOfMind
