DIY Purifying Bath Soak

You all know that I absolutely love baths. They’re relaxing, beautiful, and with me- chock full of healing herbs! Covid-19 has the world in a tizzy. We are all feeling a bit more anxious, uncertain, and cooped up. For someone like me who is incredibly sensitive to energy and has an anxiety disorder I have been exponentially more out of sorts than I usually am. So, to combat some of that energy overload I grabbed a few of my favorite purifying herbal ingredients, hopped in the bath, and soaked! Psst… not into the ‘woo woo’ aspect? No worries! These ingredients have physical purification qualities as well.

Purifying Bath Soak Ingredients

Salt

I’m using a combination of dead sea salt and Himalayan sea salt, but you can use any sea salt you have on hand! Salt is full of magnesium which can help sooth aching muscles and calm down your body, including helping anxiety. But in a purification sense, salt works wonders! If you’re into crystals you might know that you can use a salt bath to help cleanse a crystal’s energy, or how you might feel different after being in the ocean! Salt is associated with purity, cleanliness, and protection.

Cinnamon

I love cinnamon for a number of different reasons! First, it smells fantastic, but it also has quite a few healing properties in herbalism! Cinnamon helps detox your body by stimulating blood vessels to bring blood up to the surface of the skin, creating warmth through circulation. It also has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and oxidant properties. It is great for removing impurities in the skin- bacne be gone!

Bay Leaf

Much like cinnamon in a physical sense, bay leaf is wonderful at cleaning because it will induce sweating which is the body’s way of releasing toxins. The aromatic properties of bay leaf are quite similar to eucalyptus, and also contains a compound called Linalool which is believed to help reduce stress and boost your immune system. In the spiritual world bay leaf is a purifier and a protector- people even like to write their worries on a bay leaf and burn it!

Lavender

Lavender flowers are one of my favorite things to add into a bath! Lavender is a natural anti-inflammatory and is also incredibly soothing for both mind and body.

Lemon Balm

Lemon Balm is a wonderful, fast growing herb that is great for helping to reduce anxiety and help reduce stress. It is also used as a sleep aid, and there’s nothing better than a ‘hard reset’ like a great night of sleep to help cleanse your energy.

While not ingredients I also popped a chunk of amethyst for healing and protection into the bath water and burned a white candle, which is a spiritual sign of purity as well!
