It is officially 2017, which both felt like a long time coming and like 2016 flew by. 2016 was definitely a growing year for me- a year in which ‘busy’ was an understatement. And with that constant running around, falling behind, and struggling to catch up came a bit of scattered chaos that left me feeling flighty, overwhelmed, and lacking a sense of grounding. So, for 2017, instead of writing my long list of resolutions that can sometimes be a bit overly complicated I’ve decided on a single word for 2017:
My intention for this year is to simplify my life in a multitude of ways- I’ve felt so scattered for so long that a the need to simplify is necessary. I work from home doing IT work, but I’m also a certified yoga instructor, a healthy living blogger and YouTuber, and I own and run my own business- my bath and body care line based in herbalism- The Spiral Collective. When you have so many balls in the air it is hard to catch your breath and I plan on doing just that this year, simplifying everything from work projects to spending habits. So, as the year progresses, you might spot a few changes to my online presence, nothing to too drastic, but a focus on sustainability, mindfulness, and finally giving myself the much needed space and time to breathe.
“Simplicity of living, if deliberately chosen, implies a compassionate approach to life.
It means that we are choosing to live our daily lives with some degree of conscious appreciation
of the condition of the rest of the world.” -Duane Elgin
