It is sweltering in Denver and here on Modern Hippie Habits that means it is time to brink back my Summer Drink Series! This season I’m starting off with a fun alcoholic Strawberries and Cream slushie to give you a nice little chill while basking in the summer sun!
Recently I was invited to an event hosted by Baileys called ‘Barre to Bar’ which was essentially a ‘my lower body wants to fall off because barre is intense’ work out followed by a cocktail hour full of great summer drinks mixed with the new vegan Baileys Almande almond milk liqueur. This stuff is wonderful both for sipping and mixing (thus my Strawberries and Cream), however beware- it doesn’t taste like alcohol at all despite its 13%! (Baileys isn’t certified vegan as of this post, but they are working on certification now.)
Ingredients (Makes approximately 32 ounces)
2 Cups Strawberries, Hulled
1 Cup Ice
2 Ounces Baileys Almonde
2 Ounces Vodka
A few springs of mint leaves- to taste (optional)
Instructions:
1 Add strawberries and ice into a high-speed blender (mine is a Ninja) and blend until smooth.
2 Add in 2 ounces of Baileys and 2 ounces of your favorite vodka. This recipe makes about 32 ounces so depending on what glasses you use (my goblets are giant!) you can add additional alcohol if you decide to split my two glasses into four!
3 Add mint leaves, saving a few for garnish and blend well.
4 Pour into your choice of glasses, top with mint leaves and enjoy your alcoholic slushie while frozen!
While I’m what I like to call a ‘conflicted omnivore’ I love that even alcoholic companies are now starting to cater to my lovely friends with eating habits different than my own! I think it is wonderful that products like an almond-milk spin on the traditional Irish cream are becoming available! I’d love to know- how would you use the new Almande? I have plenty of my bottle left and I’m always looking for suggestions!
I was invited to taste the new Baileys Almande and was given a free bottle, but was not to required to post. I’ve included it in a recipe because I genuinely love it! Some links are affiliate links.
