5 Natural Ways to Combat Spring Allergy Symptoms

Springtime is beautiful. The grass turns green, the snow melts away, flowers and trees begin to bloom- nature seems to be waking up from a long slumber. However, all that beauty comes with a price for a big chunk of us. Spring allergies. Spring allergy symptoms are such a pain in the rear (well more like face/throat/nose) so over the years I’ve curated a handful of products that helps me deal with the symptoms as they arise (and one to help prevent them!)

5 Natural Ways to Combat Spring Allergy Symptoms

I am not a fan of pharmaceuticals, so all of these products are all natural and based in holistic medicine. And quite a few of them are tasty and smell delicious to boot!

Local Honey

Local honey, emphasis on local, contains traces of this pollen native to your area. Taking a daily spoonful of honey in the months leading up to spring and throughout the season helps get your body used to the pollen in the air, desensitizing yourself from spring pollen’s effects.

Sabadil and Neti Pot

Sabadil is a homeopathic remedy for relief from allergy symptoms with components that naturally relieve, itchy throat, sneezing, runny nose, cough, and irritated eyes.

A Neti Pot can help relieve allergy symptoms associated with your sinuses. It clears your sinuses with the aid of a salt rinse and removes internal irritants.

Teas

Throat Coat Tea is chock full of ingredients that do exactly what the name suggests! When you have a dry, scratchy throat from coughing the marshmallow root, slippery elm, and licorice root will ease discomfort and bring relief.

Nettle Leaves are an antihistamine, with anti-inflammatory properties that help to soothe the allergic reactions brought upon by spring allergy irritants. As your body reacts to what you’re allergic to, it swells up creating discomfort while battling the ‘invader.’ Nettle leaves can prevent this inflammation from happening.

Essential Oils

A few drops of eucalyptus essential oil or peppermint essential oil used in an essential oil diffuser is a natural way to soothe your breathing and open up your sinuses.
